A Valuable Lesson about Doing It All

As a small business owner, do you ever feel there are not enough hours in the day? We are busy pitching our products/services. So, how do you make time for it all? We have families. We sit on boards. We are members of organizations. We try to do it all! (At least I do.)

I had a great conversation with a high growth entrepreneur today. She told me that she was not getting some things done because she was trying to do everything people asked her to do. She thought this was going to get her and her business to the next place. She learned a valuable lesson. She realized every good thing was not the best thing. So, now everything she does has to align with her vision. If it doesn’t, she will not do it. She no longer do what she calls resume’ fillers, which are often distractions.

This is powerful. We can learn a lesson too. Let’s reevaluate what we are doing and who we are doing it for. Are those boards or organizations beneficial to our beliefs and goals? Sometimes to ensure success on all levels, we have to say or type a two-letter word – NO.
